New Mexico Bans Alcohol Sales to DUI Offenders

You are here: Home / Law / New Mexico Bans Alcohol Sales to DUI Offenders
April 3, 2013 by Editorial Staff

Facing a high rate of DWI convictions, New Mexico has been strengthening its stance against those who choose to drink and drive. According to the ABQJournal, New Mexico’s most recent restriction will prevent convicted DUI offenders, who must already install an ignition interlock device on any vehicle driven, from purchasing alcohol. The ignition interlock restriction, however, does not address the problem of drinking and driving for those who do not own or legally operate a vehicle. This new measure hopes to continue the reduction of DWI-related accidents within the state. Read more here: House OKs liquor ban for some DWI offenders
