Illinois Considers New Drunk Driving Law

Repeat drunk drivers are a problem everywhere, and with each new DUI conviction, the penalties and consequences generally increase. In Illinois, however, a new law could actually decrease the penalties for repeat instances of drunk driving. According to WICS.com, a new bill introduced in Illinois would allow 4th-time DUI offenders the privilege of driving again, despite a history of drunk driving convictions. While restoring the driving privileges would come with many restrictions, including a lifetime ignition interlock installation requirement, many feel that through restoring a driver’s license in any form to a person convicted of drunk driving is a reward for bad behavior.
