Joining 43 other states that currently have some type of law to enhance a DUI charge when a child is present in the vehicle, Connecticut is rallying for stronger DUI laws to protect the innocent from DUI injury or even death. NBC Connecticut reports that these penalties would include an automatic felony for any adult convicted of DUI while a minor under age 16 is present in the vehicle, as well as up to four years in prison. Supporting these penalties, M.A.D.D. encourages the mandatory installation of ignition interlock devices in the vehicles of those convicted.
