Ignition interlock devices are known to help reduce the rates of drunk driving on the roads, with many states showing a reduction in second or subsequent offenses by about one-third. Lodinews.com reports that the technology used in an IID is showing positive development in the fight against drunk drivers, as noted especially in an opinion published by a local teacher. This technology is not only able to detect alcohol through a direct breath sample, but, future iterations could include a fingertip blood test and a general sample of the air inside a vehicle.
