at-risk drinking alcoholism

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) states that it is not only the amount of drinks consumed each day, but also the total amount consumed over a week can indicate an addiction. A female is considered a heavy drinker if she consumes four or more drinks during the day, or more than seven in a week. For men, the daily limit is five drinks per day, or a total of 14 drinks per week.

Alcohol addiction is a problem around the world that affects millions of people. Risky behavior and poor judgment may be only the beginning when it comes to looking at this pervasive problem. From hangovers to ignition interlock installations to the death of a person in an alcohol-related vehicle accident, knowing the risk factors involved with alcohol consumption can be a start on a better path.
