Fortunately, technology today is providing a virtually foolproof solution, giving states like Connecticut the incentive to use ignition interlock requirements as part of a DWI sentence. According to WFSB.com, a current bill that would require the mandatory installation of ignition interlock devices on the vehicles of first-time DWI offenders is moving through the state government, with promising results. This bill would mandate an ignition interlock installation for all first-time DWI offenders who choose to enter into alcohol awareness programs as part of the conviction.
