As repeat DUI offenses account for a large portion of arrests and convictions across the country, it can sometimes seem difficult to understand why more offenders are able to continue driving after a conviction. With many states enacting tougher DUI laws, including jail time, alcohol treatment programs and mandatory ignition interlock installations, the chance to continue to drive drunk may seem less likely than ever. However, WIVB.com reports that two police jurisdictions had to combine forces in order to apprehend and arrest a convicted drunk driver in New York.
