Drinking and Driving: Women vs. Men

You are here: Home / Resources / Drinking and Driving: Women vs. Men

female drunk drivers

While overall, the rate of drinking and driving appears to be falling, a stunning statistic has many people wondering about the effectiveness of DUI laws across the country. Between 1998 and 2007, the number of women arrested for driving under the influence rose almost 30%, showing that the typical DUI profile is changing. The reasons for this change are thought to be related to the marketing of alcohol to women, and the establishment of programs geared toward men and drinking.

Regardless of gender or any other demographic factor, drinking and driving is a dangerous choice with many consequences. Be safe when drinking and always have a designated driver or other plan in place so that you arrive home safe, and spare the lives of others on the road.
