Keeping children safe should be the number one goal of any school bus driver, however, in Long Island, New York, four separate incidents of drunk bus drivers are creating new legislation to protect kids on buses. According to longIsland.com, a bill was recently proposed that would require all buses install ignition interlock devices to ensure a bus driver has not been drinking. These devices would require a bus driver to test for any blood alcohol concentration before starting the bus. Opponents of the bill state that costs and other issues attached to the devices make the concept impractical at best.
